Integrated Peritoneal Dialysis in Rural and Remote Areas Presented at Western Canada PD Days, 2017 by the BC Renal Agency
During my role as a Renal Educator for a tertiary hospital, I presented at the Western Canada PD days in 2017, alongside my nursing colleague, Bonnie Futros, RN. Together, we explored the unique challenges and innovative approaches to delivering peritoneal dialysis care to patients in rural communities, highlighting collaborative care models and tailored patient education solutions.

From Cultural Competence to Cultural Safety: A Comparative Analysis of Leininger and Ramsden
I made this presentation for Athabasca University MN: GEN course Nurs 608. It was shared in the ‘Theorist Gallery’ with my colleagues. This presentation offers a critical comparison between Madeleine Leininger’s Transcultural Nursing Theory and Irihapeti Ramsden’s Cultural Safety Framework. While Leininger emphasizes understanding cultural differences to enhance care, Ramsden challenges nurses to examine power imbalances, systemic inequities, and the impact of colonization in healthcare. Drawing on real-world examples and reflective practice, this analysis underscores the need to move beyond cultural competence toward culturally safe, relational, and socially just nursing care. (Narrated by Rupinder Sandhu).
